Below are examples of services and deliverables from previous clients. Names are redacted for the sake of privacy. All clients are based in the Greater Boston area. All solutions were designed, created, and executed by me.
Finance: Pricing Table
Pain point: Business is unsure how much take home will be after events and paying for staff members.
Solution: Create a forecasting table where Business can input the costs, prices, hours, and automatically figure out how much Business will net from the event.
Impact: Pricing can be complicated, as there are many variables involved – cost of goods, staffing, price of product, etc. With this pre-set pricing table, Business will be able to easily see their profit margin, know how much they need to sell in order to break even, and price products accordingly. This will give Business a clear picture of how many products they should sell in order to hit their financial goals for the week, month, and year.
Operations: Event Scheduling + Contract
Pain point: Cold calling to book events takes up a lot of Business’s time. Verbal contracts make expectations unclear and can result in a loss of money. Email/Instagram/phone calls take time to go back and forth to settle on the terms. Sometimes terms are unclear.
Solution:
(1) Draft a contract that protects both parties and guarantees Business protection from loss of profit.
(2) Segment the target audience into three entities and draft email templates for each oneIdentify leads (name + email) that have potential for event partnership and/or long-term partnerships.
(3) Create a booking tool with customizable booking options (limiting # of events each week, lead time, months into future etc.) for vendor to use
(4) Draft a contract that protects both parties and guarantees Business protection from loss of profit.
Impact: I identified 30+ leads for Business. Email templates + pre-vetted information allow Business to outreach in bulk quickly – can be done within 1 hour. I set up a booking tool to streamline booking events for both the Business and the event host, saving everyone time in the long run. The drafted contract ensures revenue and protection in case of unfair vendor requirements, illness, or impending weather for Business.
Finance: Cash Flow Analysis
Pain point: Business is currently 1 person and is looking for more customers + sales but currently doesn’t have capacity to expand.
Solution: Conduct cash flow analysis to see how strong the cash flow is and if there’s a possibility to cut costs and hire more people.
Impact:
(1) Cash flow is critical for attracting investors, and investors are critical for Business to increase capacity. Cash flow analysis gives investors a clear idea of the potential revenue Business can generate and it gives Business a clear idea of where their money is going week by week and month by month.
(2) Cash flow analysis showed that the business is breaking even. I identified the top expenses, profit margin, alternative potential revenue streams, and patterns in profits for Business. I also identified the months where the business made the most sales, and tracked coinciding in-person events. The analysis shows that there’s room to cut back on specific costs and that it is more cost effective to hire employees to do the more time-intensive work.
Marketing: Target Audience Identification
Pain point: Business is unsure who their target audience is, and is not sure where or how to market
Solution:
(1) Conduct market research from online, popular platforms, research journals, studies, to identify age group, demographics, buying habits, and “type” of purchaser they are.
(2) Draft content based on market research
Impact: This ultimately helped Business with describing their product and figuring out the best channel they should use to reach their target audience. Since working together, I’ve helped Business create a media kit, connect with similar businesses, apply to events that could feature the product, and create a holistic view of showcasing the product and attracting the right audience, resulting in a magazine interview and a successful showcase event for their product.
Operations: Independent Website + Streamlining Operations
Pain point: 3rd party platform taking a big percentage of profit (30%) from Business; a majority of sales depends on this platform. As a 1 person-business, the owner doesn’t have enough time to post on different platforms to advertise products.
Solution:
(1) Set up a website on Platform ($30/mo) with add-on software to streamline posting on multiple platforms at once.
(2) Create a newsletter to notify followers ahead of time of product drop
Impact: Hundreds of millions of people use Platform every day, so it’s already pre-vetted. It’s also the leading platform for Business’s industry. A powerful website will help streamline payment, posting, advertisement, inventory, across platforms and more. A monthly newsletter will help convert followers from a third party platform onto Business’s own website/platform.
Additional cost for client: $30/mo, but it will save significantly on margins taken from the third party platform. If Business sells 1 more item each month, the website price will be worth it.
Marketing/Operations: Website + Brand Identity
Pain point: Current website is bare bones. Business wants to showcase more content and add more features.
Solution:
(1) Set up website on Platform for $50/month (Platform specializes in sites for Business’s industry, with same features as competitors but at half price without hidden fees)
(2) Outline brand identity, positioning, messaging, and target audience
Impact:
Business will save money in the long run by using this website platform. It will not only save Business money, but can help build brand credibility, streamline online sales, and make it easier for customers and collaborators to contact them.
Having a clear brand identity will help Business clarify and narrow down how to draft content about the business itself. This will create a cohesive story and branding online and in-person.
Additional cost for client: $50/month (compared to $100+/month)
